Who does all the work in a trade business?
Is it the tradie on the road?
Is it the apprentice in the trenches?
Or is it the women in the background? The ones most people do not see and often get overlooked?
Master Electrician Australia (MEA) has identified that the forces in the background, the so called tradiewives, are often overlooked and created an annual award, Women In Contracting.
Mishi and Garry have been running GESA Electrical since 2005 and are the local electricians in Angle Vale.
While Garry spends most of his time on the road, Mishi is on the office.
She answers the phone, orders materials, schedules the jobs, does the payroll, is responsible for HR, does the filing, gets the vans organised for service, provides breakfast at toolbox meetings, buys the baby wipes for job cleaning, the lollie bags GESA hands out, gets the business cards organised and so on and so on.
As you can see, Mishi does a lot, a heck of a lot.
So we nominated her for Women en in Contracting 2021.
And guess what?
Her efforts have been assessed by a panel of industry experts and Mishi not only made the finals, but took away the award for South Australia, just missing out on the National Award.
Mishi does in-house booking and hold a Cert IV in Bookkeeping and Accounting as well as a Cert IV in Small Business Management.
We are proud to have her and feel privileged to work with an award winner.
